Extruded Polystyrene (XPS)

xps insulation, expanded polystyrene bloock, board insulation

XPS insulation is well known for its excellent compressive strength and thermal performance.  The robust insulation is resistant to the passage of water and is suitable for use in inverted roof applications.

Extruded Polystyrene (XPS)

Applications

Suitable for with single ply membranes, in an inverted roof below ballast or paving slabs or in a green/garden roof.

Description

Extruded polystyrene is a rigid extruded polystyrene insulant.

Thermal performance

The thermal conductivity (lambda/λ-value) of XPS  is 0.033 W/mK.

Dimensions

XPS is supplied in standard thicknesses of 1250 x 600 mm.

XPS insulation is a popular choice due to it’s flexibility and benefits from:

  • Strong and robust insulation
  • Excellent compressive strength – particularly useful in projects where weight loading must be considered
  • Good thermal performance
  • Water resistant
  • Lightweight boards are easy to handle
  • Moisture resistant due to the boards closed cell structure
  • Huge flexibility for standard roofs or problematic roofs
  • Green guide A rating

Ideal for use within Building Innovation’s Hybrid Systems
